Abstract

Most of the ships operate on the international maritime lines must obey the regulations and the international laws. In particular IMO (International Maritime Organization) regulations have been refered to all nations which are the membership of IMO. In where, MARPOL 73/78 is the International Convention for The Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973 as modified by the Protocol of 1978 with Annex VI came into force. It is introduced the requirements to regulate the air pollution being emitted by ships, including the emission of ozone depleting substances, Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Sulphur Oxides (SOx), Carbon dioxides (CO2),…It is also established the requirements for reception facilities for waste from exhaust gas cleaning systems. Due to the exhaust gas emission need to reduce the researching follows of the Annex VI/MARPOL 73/78 is necessary. This article has been pointed out that the impacts of EEOI (Energy Efficiency Operation Index) and EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) to optimize fuel consumption and how to reduce the Greenhouse Gas Emission in order to have the green shipping nowadays.
